Each year, Keep Georgia Beautiful works with private sponsors to organize the Bring One for the Chipper Christmas tree-recycling event. The Chipper program involves hundreds of Georgia communities and thousands of volunteers. Since its inception, the program has recycled over 4.8 million Christmas trees. Mulch from these trees has been used for playgrounds, local government beautification projects, and individual yards.
You can support the Chipper program by bringing your cut Christmas tree to a designated drop off site or volunteering with your local coordinator to collect trees. The City of Lilburn is a participant in this program. Bring your trees and discard them in front of the Maintenance Yard fence. As you enter the parking lot, you will see a fence gate to your left. Neatly stack your trees at the bend in the fence.
Please be sure to remove lighting, nails, and any other foreign objects from the tree, as these will damage the chipping machine. The program will run through the month of January.
