Now in its second successful season, the Brookhaven Farmer’s Market, sponsored by Word of Mouth Restaurants, HAVEN and Valenza, is open for business on Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., through late fall. The market is located in the HAVEN and Valenza parking lot just off Dresden Drive in the heart of Brookhaven.
Shoppers will find locally grown and locally produced food and farm products from more than 20 farmers, food producers and artisans. That number will grow as the season progresses and the abundant bounty of local produce ripens.
“We wanted to bring a farmer’s market to the Brookhaven neighborhood that would offer the same great produce and vendors as some of the city’s larger markets. The market exceeded our expectations last season and we are thrilled to host it again this year in a bigger and better way. Each week feels like a family reunion, neighborhood potluck and spring festival rolled into one,” says Michel Arnette, founder of Word of Mouth Restaurants and the Brookhaven Farmer’s Market.
What’s fresh this spring? Peak-of-season produce like Dillwood Farm’s spinach and squash, Watsonia Farms’ organic peaches and strawberries, Phoenix Gardens radishes, and much more. Brookhaven Farmer’s Market food producers, food artisans and prepared food vendors will also tempt shoppers with delicious baked goods, meats, cheeses, seafood and other specialty foods.
This season, nine newcomers join the family of vendors at the Brookhaven Farmer’s Market including Dunwoody Honey, One Screw Loose Jellies and Jams, Bernhard’s Bread Bakery, Double Bee Farms, Watsonia Farms, Veggie Patch, Darby Farms, Mo’ Mint and Thyme, and Happy Hogs.
Cooking demonstrations will be featured at the market throughout the season by some of the community’s best-known chefs.
