We congratulate one of our own, Dr. Paul Hudson, named recipient of a 2014 Governor’s Award for the Arts and Humanities. He was among 13 Georgia citizens and organizations recognized for “significant contribu-tions to innovation and growth of the state’s civic and cultural vitality.”
Hudson’s career in higher education has spanned more than 30 years, at both Oglethorpe Univer-sity and Georgia Perimeter College, where he is professor of history. He has written books on the At-lanta Race Riot of 1906 and a multicultural history of Stone Mountain, co-authored with GPC colleague Lora Miza.
Paul has written numerous articles in the online New Georgia Encyclopedia and the Georgia His-torical Quarterly, as well as other publications. We are pleased that the Governor’s Award also recog-nized his monthly columns for many years in our six Hometown papers featuring local, positive com-munity stories.
