Lilburn Teen Idol winner Jenna Bass is a finalist in the Variety Stars of Tomorrow charity competition and will compete for the top spot in a variety show in the Fox Theater’s Egyptian Ballroom on March 11.
Bass is a 17-year-old junior at Parkview High School in Lilburn. She was crowned Lilburn Teen Idol last summer and placed first in the Broadway Rising Star vocal competition in New York City. Bass has performed the National Anthem at local events such as Gwinnett Braves games, pageants and school athletic events. Bass started singing in her sixth grade choir and began voice lessons in eighth grade with Lilburn voice teacher Janet Chadwick.
The road to the finals started with a video submission of Part of Our World, from the Little Mermaid. Bass was selected to perform with the final 20 at the Buckhead Theater in January and advanced to the final ten. The winner of the competition at the Fox will win a trip to Hollywood. The winner and two runners up with win a photo shop, demo CD production and an audition at a local theater.
The Variety Stars of Tomorrow competition benefits Variety, the Children’s Charity of Georgia, which provides aid and strives to enhance the lives of children in need who may be challenged by physical or mental disabilities, poverty, abuse or neglect. The Variety was established in Atlanta in 1938 and assists more than 4,000 children every year.
The finale at the Fox begins with a silent auction at 5 p.m. on March 11. The performances begin at 6:30 p.m. General admission is $15 and tickets are available at www.varietystarsoftomorrow.com.
