Oga’s Restaurant Review

Oga’s Restaurant in Chamblee has been serving up great breakfasts and lunches for 34 years. You have to be doing all the right things to be successful for that long and Oga’s has continued by offering excellent food at reasonable prices.

Oga RestI have eaten there many times on trips to Brookhaven and Chamblee despite the influx of many new places in the area, and have never been disappointed. Breakfast is served until 11:00 a.m. and lunch until 2:45 p.m. There is a menu of sandwiches and burgers cooked to order. I really enjoyed my turkey and bacon on a buttered and toasted hoagie roll on my most recent visit. The turkey was grilled and piled on the bread. It came with fries for $5.95.

The daily plate specials, however, are your best bet at Oga’s. There is usually a selection of five or six meats daily along with two vegetables from a long list of possibilities. I usually get at least one extra vegetable and the excellent cornbread because the veggies and bread are so good. Generally, my favorites are the cabbage, green beans, carrots and fried okra, although Oga’s has wonderful homemade cole slaw too.

The meats are just as good though, and often remind me of the old-time southern diners I grew up going to. Oga’s has fried chicken, fried tilapia, grilled pork chops, breaded beef in gravy and others in large servings. You will not leave hungry even if you pass up the homemade pies and banana pudding.

Oga’s is located at 5719 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. and is open for breakfast and lunch. For more information, call 770-458-2747. This is a restaurant that lives up to its slogan, “There is no substitute for quality.”
