DeKalb County Government’s “Team DeKalb” invites metro-Atlanta citizens and businesses to join the Team to support the March of Dimes’ March for Babies 2013. This year’s “It’s for the Babies” Walk will be on Saturday, April 27 at the Georgia World Congress Center, 285 Andrew Young International Blvd NW, Atlanta. Team DeKalb wants 500 volunteers to walk to raise $50,000.
DeKalb County has been a supporter of March for Babies for 10 years, raising more than $168,000. Last year, Team DeKalb raised $30,288. According to the Atlanta March of Dimes Office, DeKalb County is ranked 6th for the top team raising money. They were ranked 5th in 2012.
“Supporters can participate by giving gifts of time, energy and money to help the cause,” says Team DeKalb Chair Steven Haynes. “We are seeking walkers, ball players and anyone who wants to help Team DeKalb reach its $50,000 fundraising goal.”
Funds raised by March for Babies support programs including Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Family Support Programs at local hospitals and community grants targeting Georgia’s most high-risk groups through education and prenatal care.
