The Oak Grove Market

Oak GroveThe Oak Grove Market on Lavista Road has been around since 1969 and continues its reputation for quality meats, salads and excellent meals — both in-house and for carryout. It also serves as an informal community center for area residents who know a good place to gather when they see one.

I’ve been going there for years and can recommend almost all their food from direct experience. Breakfast is served from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and has all the standard options, but my personal favorites are the gigantic, house-made sausage patties. Speaking of in-house meats, this is a top-notch meat market too with a huge selection of beef, chicken, pork, seafood and lamb. Virtually any type of meat will be cut and prepared to order, while there are plenty of ready-to-cook possibilities like the ka-bobs.

The Oak Grove Market also has a large range of homemade breads, soups, chili, desserts and salads. You won’t find a better chicken and wild rice soup anywhere. A lot of these are conveniently packaged to go but are also available for lunch from10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Market serves some of the best hotdogs and hamburgers in Atlanta. The Market also serves deli sandwiches and daily specials, which include a tenderloin sandwich, lasagna, salmon, steak and chicken nachos. A monthly menu of daily specials priced from $6.99 to $8.99, with one or two sides, is created for each month.

The Market is open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., so there isn’t really a dinner menu. However, many people stop by to get carryout from the packaged items, the fresh vegetables, or from the butchers. There is also the option of “Meal in a Minute” deals on Mon.-Thurs. These are meals for four and ready to serve. The menus are set and vary by week. You may order before 2:00 p.m. and pick up between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.. The price is $29.99.

Located at 2757 Lavista Rd, the Oak Grove Market satisfies almost all your dining needs with high quality food and convenient service. For more information or to place an order, call 404-315-9831 or email oakgrovemarket@hotmail.com. See menus at www.oakgrovemarket.com.
