The film industry has exploded in Georgia –and we have the soundstages, celebrity sightings and street closings to prove it! So it’s no surprise that some entrepreneurial movie buffs have stepped up to take us to the sites where our favorites were filmed.
Atlanta Movie Tours (AMT) has been attracting sell-out crowds and earning raves for its in-depth tours and in-the-know guides. The hottest ticket is for “The Walking Dead,” AMC’s apocalyptic zombie epic that is proving one of the biggest breakout cable TV series of all time.
As such, AMT has fortified its Big Zombie Tour with additional departures!
Starting in June, Big Zombie Tour Part 1 lurches out of the gate each Saturday at 10 am and 2 pm, as well as Wednesdays at 10 am. The tour will take one to “The Walking Dead” first-season locations such as the hospital where the epic began, and the site that stood in for the Centers for Disease Con-trol. Tickets are $45.
Big Zombie Tour Part 2 focuses on Senoia, Georgia and environs, where the series’ second and third seasons were shot. This tour runs Sundays at 10 am and 2 pm, and the cost is $65.
Each tour is conducted on an air-conditioned coach, and lasts about three hours. There are trivia contests for prizes along the way.
