Dunwoody Dispatch East - June 2019

Dunwoody Dispatch Covering Dunwoody East & Surrounding Areas • LOCAL, POSITIVE COMMUNITY NEWS H ometown N ews A tlanta Volume 4, No. 6 • JUNE 2019 EAST PRICELESS ISSUE! Yesterday, I went down to the Cross- roads, that is, at Tilly Mill and Peeler Roads in Dunwoody, on one of my nearly daily distance walks leaving the Winters Chapel Road area. Taking the pedestrian crossing at Winters Chapel means going from Gwinnett to DeKalb, Peachtree Cor- ners to Dunwoody, all in a safe pro- tected crosswalk. That’s good because Peeler Road heading fromWinters Chapel to Tilly Mill is often heavily trafficked. Going out Dunwoody along Peeler, I take a gently curving landscaped sidewalk. Yoga is all about the Fitness of Things, and it has a kind of harmonic convergence in Peachtree Corners this summer—the season starts officially by the way on Friday June 21, hooray! And it gets even better: Yoga on the Green, it’s called, and it’s scheduled this end of spring and summer season for Tuesday mornings, 8:00-9:00 am. The newly chris- tened Town Green is now open. Peachtree Corners dedicated the first community event at the new Town Green at an evening concert April 27 by the vener- able Atlanta Rhythm Section band and I was there to enjoy it. I really believe the new Town Green is destined to make Peachtree Corners even more special with a heightened sense of true community. Town Greens are a wonderful tradi- tion that started in the New England col- onies when America was young. There’s something intimate about town greens because by their nature they’re centrally located, nicely landscaped and open to all. They’re always ambient places, and then at special times they host public events, inclusive when all are invited to enjoy common greenspace together. Town Greens are always about com- munity. The Town Green at Peachtree Corners had beautiful sod installed this spring and is good to go. Free Yoga on the Green Continued on page 9 Free yoga sessions will be offered at Peachtree Corners Town Green on Tuesday mornings 8:00 am, throughout June and ending Aug. 27. Town Green is located directly across from The Forum on Peachtree Parkway. I went down to the Crossroads…. June 16th Can’t miss it: Crossroads Church of Dunwoody tower on Tilly Mill Rd. at crossroads with Peeler Rd. has bold Cross landmark, and a kiosk signboard proclaims selected Scriptural quotations.
